Position Summary:

  • Responsible for the supervision of plant maintenance in the areas of processing both Dry Pet, Mill, Meat Processing, Slurry, and Fat House areas.
  • Supports and facilitates Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental objectives and fosters a work environment which promotes the facility to perform as "one of the safest companies in each market and business we operate".
  • Meets all Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental requirements when performing job duties.
  • Leads continuous improvements initiatives through coaching, feedback and recognition. Communicates continuous improvement initiatives and ensures active participation by Team Members.
  • Work overtime and weekends as required.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Manage, facilitate, direct and support safety objectives and goals. Ensure employees work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures. Work safely at all times. Follow all safety policies and procedures. Attend safety, team and plant-wide meetings; attend safety and functional training, perform SafeStart observations.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel assigned to the maintenance team and processing areas, to include coaching, training, budgeting, interviewing and prioritizing work.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance of all equipment in areas of responsibility
  • Monitor maintenance safety levels and safety practices as set forth in the Plant Operating Standards
  • Supervise and schedule training for all team members thru the maintenance progression plan and beyond.
  • Monitor, update and implement the plant predictive and preventative maintenance plan
  • To work with Merrick engineering department on assigned projects in all areas of the plant when needed
  • To work with and oversee outside contractors as needed and assigned
  • To keep up with current trends and improvements in the phases of the maintenance budget
  • To understand, work with, and control maintenance cost within our maintenance department
  • To provide an environment that will help build team concept and good morale
  • To spend time on the floor communicating with both operatives and maintenance personnel covering all shifts concerns
  • To work with other team leaders in a joint effort to maximize maintenance support to production
  • Monitor and evaluate production down time in assigned areas in order to supply long term problem solving solutions
  • Provide cost and labor estimates for work being done in the plant by both Nestle personnel and outside contractors
  • To work with each mechanic and assigned personnel to help anticipate goals and self-ownership in assigned areas
  • Provide performance reviews of area maintenance team member
  • Help organize maintenance team meetings to discuss concerns, answer questions, and listen to suggestions. Work with storeroom personnel to help on stock levels and maintain an acceptable level of parts in staging



Basic Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. AA Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience (years/type) 5+ Years experience in all general maintenance practices. 1+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Other: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Shift: Must be available for all shifts when needed
