Position Summary:

The Training Coordinator is responsible for executing a variety of tasks and activities in support of Merrick Pet Care's Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety programs.  He/she will provide support to the commitment and continual improvement of Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct employee and contractor Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety training and orientation
  • Conduct and/or facilitate specialty job training and testing including SafeStart, Audiograms, Arc Flash Training, Ammonia Safety, CPR/First Aid and Respirator Fit Testing
  • Facilitate Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety compliance management
  • Facilitate random and post-accident drug screens
  • Become certified in Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety industry certifications as appropriate
  • Conduct/observe/evaluate safety drills including Fire and Severe Weather
  • Facilitate Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety record-keeping, testing and other documentation, including tracking and follow-up testing of employees who miss training sessions or need additional instruction
  • Observe and evaluate SOPs, behavior-based safety activities and hands-on Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety employee related tasks
  • Report Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety issues to supervisors and plant managers with recommendations on how to resolve the issue.
  • Perform documentation / records review audits when appropriate
  • Perform other duties as necessary

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High School degree or equivalent G.E.D. required
  • Bi-lingual required, written and verbal. (Spanish)
  • +1 years of training and development in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Maintain knowledge of current and developing Food Safety, Food Quality, Human Resources and Workplace Safety issues, trends and systems
  • Has the ability to conduct effective safety training, facility audits and behavioral observations
  • Must have analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, organizational skills, and pays attention to details.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team
