As the Safety & Health Assistant Manager you will assist the Safety Manager in planning, implementation, and operation of the organization's Safety Management System (SMS). You will be responsible for supporting the evolution of the safety culture, empowering employees, and reducing work related injuries and illnesses.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and coaching on Safety and Health programs, systems, and processes to establish clear expectations. Responsible to effectively drive, sustainable implementation via hands on leadership, coaching and teamwork.
  • Assist the Safety Manager with maintaining the Safety Management System in accordance with the certification requirements of ISO 45001. Drive compliance with local, state, and federal safety requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise/coaching as needed in all areas and initiatives of the function. Partner with other key functions on initiatives including Engineering, Operations, HR, Quality, etc. to deliver on goals and plans.
  • Provide effective Safety Training that meets the requirements of OSHA and the Management System (SMS). Effectively deliver Safety Orientation program for new hires and contractors. Organize, coordinate, and conduct training for Safety Committee on safety topics and current safety programs in the plant.
  • Administration responsibilities regarding documentation for accident / incident investigations, and follow up, health and safety related issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in a safety or compliance role within a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment.
