As the Director, eCommerce Marketing, you will have the opportunity to shape, build and lead Merrick's eCommerce strategy, execution and performance with our major ecommerce partners, including pure play and brick and mortar. The role will manage the Amazon marketing lead as well as a Content Specialist/publisher and additional staff as the role grows.

You will play a vital role in all aspects of our eCommerce business - from partner strategy and merchandising to advertising and overall business analytics. You will be responsible for helping the organization achieve sales targets, conversion/engagement goals, advertising targets and broader company objectives.

You will work cross-functionally with sales, finance, brand and customer marketing as well closely with our core ecommerce partners, Amazon and Chewy. You will lead a team focused on delivering actionable insights, analyses and recommendations that inform day-to-day business and long-term strategy. 

We are looking for a highly versatile and well-rounded eCommerce leader, someone who can create and drive strategy but is also creative, a problem solver, a team player and not afraid to roll up his/her sleeves and get their hands dirty. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive the business: Collaborate with merchandising and marketing on increasing traffic and order volume efforts through ecommerce site optimization; Leverage analytics, consumer insights, and reports to identify, recommend, and implement optimizations and enhancements to the site.
  • Analyze opportunities:  Utilize data, strong analytical skills and prior experience to provide insight into how deliver best in class merchandising and media in order to successfully scale our business.
  • Advertising / Media: Work closely with your communications team partners and media agencies to deliver media strategy and budget allocation. You'll then work to ensure creative best practices, optimization and delivery of all core KPIs and sales goals
  • Work Cross-functionally:  Coordinate with other stakeholders to bring products (in market and innovation) to life in the ecommerce space. Align pricing and promotion strategies and ensure implementation and compliance. Help define and implement retention and acquisition programs to achieve target efficiencies and sales goals. Work closely with creative teams to ensure site merchandising and product detail creative is aligned with overall strategy.
  • Drive eCommerce Strategy:  Thoroughly understand competitive landscape primarily focused on navigation, search, customer experience, and driving roadmap priorities to incorporate into the business; identify opportunities to innovate and improve, providing additional benefits to the customer and our partners.
  • Systems / Platform management: Manage key relationships with OneSpace and Salsify as well as all related content management and creative development

Basic Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field

Experience: Minimum of 7 years' experience in e-commerce marketing in a data driven environment required, at least 5 years hands-on experience with e-commerce and online marketing required; Amazon Media/Merchandising experience, including in paid advertising, preferred. 

 Competencies & General Skills:

  • Proven experience with high level planning, cross-departmental integration and hands on tactical implementation
  • Familiarity with content management tools
  • Strong writing, speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to be action and detail oriented, organized with ability to manage teams to execute within deadlines
  • Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships and inspire collaboration and action
  • Strong omni-channel thinking and strategy development
  • Must be data savvy and able to deliver measurement reports and conduct ad hoc ROI / business analysis
  • Understanding of evolving ecommerce environments and tools with ability of implementing best practices
  • Able to translate trends into brand focused business opportunities that drive to sales and profit goals
  • Experience managing, leading, and developing a team
